Position Title: National Manager, Advocacy
A. PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Manage the Advocacy Initiative under the supervision of the Director of Outreach & Advocacy
Major objectives of the Advocacy Initiative are:
1. Increase the number of new and renovated facilities.
2. Increase the number of varsity and recreational programs on college campuses.
3. Increase the number of programs in elementary and middle schools.
B. MAJOR DUTIES:
Manage the operation of the advocacy website.
Manage the development of advocacy case studies.
Create and update advocacy tools that facilitate the growth and development as an advocacy organization.
Staff member of the Advocacy Taskforce
Assist actively in the design and develop the advocacy curriculum and its deployment working collaboratively with the National Manager of Learning and Leadership.
To work collaboratively with National Managers for Parks, CTAs, NJTLs, Schools, and Collegiate , development to stay up to date on all advocacy-related issues involving those program areas.
Consult with local organization and activists to assist them in their planning and organizing concerning advocacy efforts.
Other duties as assigned by the Director, Outreach & Advocacy
C. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
1. Timely creation of tools and other advocacy aids.
2. Ability to meet deadlines with quality work.
3. Effective collaboration with other members of the department and the division.
4. Quality of work.
5. Accuracy and Quality of information provided to organizations and individuals seeking advice on advocacy.
6. Feedback for the field
7. Completion of Annual Performance Objectives established by the Director of Outreach & Advocacy.
8. Evaluation of core competencies identified in the Associations Employee Performance Management System including initiative, teamwork and cooperation, job knowledge and service orientation to both internal colleagues and external constituencies.
D. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
E. INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Director, Outreach & Advocacy works closely with others in the department and the division.
F. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS/ACCOUNTABILITY:
Works closely with the chair of the Advocacy Taskforce.
Works with national organizations with whom has partnered.
Works closely with the relevant volunteer committees.
G. QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER:
1. College Degree required, and J.D or Masters Degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Government Relations, Community Organizing, Public Relations, political or issues campaigns, or other related experience.
3. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Experienced presenter
5. Demonstrated ability in policy analysis, planning, organizing, communications, or data management.
6. Computer fluency and comfort managing Advocacy Website content required.
7. Position is considered exempt.
